A brand new Tequila has launched and we couldn’t be more excited!
The Storywood Tequila range connect 2 very different cultures and traditions, to quote brandowner Michael Ballantyne: Storywood is ‘born in Mexico, shaped in Scotland.’
Michael, who was born in Scotland has of course a huge passion for Scotch Whiskey. With the intention of rekindling a joy for cooking he visited Mexico a few years back which ignited an excitement for Tequila. Together with Master Distiller Luis Trejo, they decided to stray from the norm and start aging Tequila in Scotch barrels, connecting 2 countries in one delicious liquid.
“Our mission is to bring new flavours to tequila through oak. We work with distilleries, wineries, and cooperages from around the world to hunt for the freshest casks that we can get our hands on.”
Using 100% lowland agave, the Storywood range is a revolutionary Tequila, that uses 2nd fill casks, having previously aged both Bourbon and Single Malt, Storywood are amongst the first to ship their barrels from Scotland to Mexico in order to create their Tequila.
Previously a chef by trade Michael’s love for food and flavour play a huge role in the production of his Tequila, and therefore works very closely with Luis during the barrel blending process.
These are perfect bottlings for anyone who enjoys an aged sipping spirit, especially whiskey lovers, as those familiar flavours dance on the palate amongst wonderful agave notes.
