Having only launched the brand Fortaleza in 2005, there is still over 140 years of history behind it. Don Cenobio was the first person to export ‘mezcal de tequila’ to the US, implement the use of steam to cook agaves instead of earthen pits which were used at the time and founded his distillery La Perseverancia in 1873!
After many generations of continued passion in tequila, fighting for global recognition of the category in spirits and helping establish tequilas DO, the great great grandson of Don Cenobio, Don Guillermo got their family distillery up and running again, to produce tequila the same way it was made over 100 years ago.
