After the great success of our first virtual tasting and masterclass we are very excited to announce another event with Julian Gomez Fabila, brand owner of La Medida Mezcal!

This time we will be talking about the most important component in Mezcal production: The noble maguey!

Mezcal, the worlds most complex clear spirit, what impacts its flavour? Does mother nature play a part? Do different production methods alter its profile? Do the species of agaves have distinct flavours?

Put simply, the answer is yes, but in this session we will dive headfirst in to all the different ways our favourite spirit can be… manipulated?!

In a relaxed setting we will chat and learn all about Mexico’s rich history, culture and traditions from eons ago until today. We’ll also learn about the various methods of Tequila & Mezcal production, their regulations and denominations, and about the plants we have to thank for giving us these wonderful spirits.

Coming up with great new ideas for tastings and bar events can be tricky because surely by now, most things have been done before… right? Wrong!!

The team at Mojo in Nottingham has had a fabulous new idea for our very first event together: An agave spirits training and tasting followed by a cocktail competition not as we know it: for consumers! No bartenders allowed behind the bar at this one and instead the bartenders who wish to get involved need to find a local or regular who wants to enter this competition!

Rules:

• >30ml La Medida Espadin (bonus points for using 30-30 Reposado Tequila too)
• Bartenders are allowed to help their volunteers without touching bar utensils

Prizes:

• Your name engraved on a barstool at Mojo Nottingham
• A bottle of La Medida Espadin
